State of Me, Sunday, 3 February, 2013

It's been a good week. I hated a lot of it.

On Thursday, my physics class was cancelled, meaning that I had absolutely no physics homework over the weekend, and that my test, which was scheduled for this week, will most likely be delayed until next week. That's a great relief, because I have a government test, as well as calculus and diff eq.

I did not find out that my physics class was cancelled until I walked up to the door of the class, with the rest of my classmates, at 1:30 in the afternoon. I had been on campus since around 8:15 that morning. I had a supplemental instruction session for government, but that was totally optional, and I had nothing else for the day. If I had known ahead of time, I would not have gone to school at all that day, and had the entire day at home to work. My teacher never sends out any notice that class is cancelled, though, which annoys me quite a bit.

Once we found out that class was cancelled, a friend offered to take me home, since it threw off my usual schedule - trains don't run very often at that time of the day, it would probably have taken me about two hours to get home. I was very, very thankful to have a ride home, and had a good portion of the day to work at home, which was very nice.

The next day was the honor society's orientation meeting. I've been in the society as a gold member for three semesters now, and intend to make this my 4th. I attended the meeting for the credit, as well as to see two friends that I had recruited to come. I saved a seat next to me for whoever showed up first.

After about ten minutes, some jerk walked over, picked up the book I had been using to save the chair, and, like, dumped it on the ground so that he could sit there. I said, "Excuse me. That's my book, and I was saving that seat." He said, "Oh, well, thanks," and proceeded to hand me my book, while sitting down in the chair. I was furious.

Less than a minute later, while I was still trying to decide what to do, my first friend showed up, and sat halfway across the room, because there wasn't a chair near me. I was really ticked off at this point. I got up and moved elsewhere (there was nowhere near my friend), and found two more chairs, so that I could save one for my other friend.

Meeting time rolled around, and he hadn't shown up yet. I texted him, and he said that he was sick. So, yeah. One of my friends ended up halfway across the room. The other got sick. I was really ticked.

Oh, and the friend that got sick and couldn't come was the same one who gave me a ride the day before, so I'm really hoping that I don't get sick. It's been two more days, and I feel fine, so I don't think it's likely at this point, but I was scared there for a while.

I passed the history test that I had last week, so that's two down, two more to go. I have no idea when I'm going to be able to study for the other two.

This week, I have 3 tests. Today, I'm reading everything required for government, as well as filling out the review sheet, so that I'll be prepared for that test. I then need to practice my guitar, as I haven't touched that in a week. I'll also be polishing my essays for U.T. Austin.

Oh right, I was accepted to U.N.T., so no matter what happens with U.T., I have somewhere as a backup plan.

There's not much else going on in my life right now. I have a stack of books that's growing all the time that I'm not allowing myself to read (I think how I'm getting them will be my post next week), because I read, like, voraciously. If I start a book and like it, I will finish it. Screw sleep, screw schoolwork, sometimes even screw eating. I'll finish that darn book. Even when re-reading, for example, I will re-read the entire Hunger Games trilogy in a day. So yeah, I've got a bunch of books that I want to read, and can't even start on yet. It kinda sucks, but it's awesome that I have the books.

I've kept up with my rice and writing this week. The only milestone that I hit was 30k words written on my book, but that's still quite an accomplishment. If you want to keep up with my writing on a daily basis, you should watch the spreadsheet that I linked a few weeks ago. It's incredible, I'm more motivated than ever to be writing daily.

So that's all for this week, folks. I'll see you all next week, all 0 of you.
